At Palladian Press we work hard to reduce our carbon footprint and make our business as environmentally friendly as possible. We have studied the impact our work has on the environment, and we not only comply with current regulations, but we exceed them wherever we can.
One of the most important ways we reduce our impact on climate change is by careful sourcing of raw materials. We need to use high-quality paper and board, and we are also determined not to contribute to the wholesale destruction of forests and the soil erosion that goes hand in hand with their demise. That’s why we make sure our paper comes from sustainable sources.
By the time paper arrives at our factory, it has passed through many hands and processes. We believe it is important to understand, and to verify, what has happened to it during that journey. To help us we are applying for ‘Chain of Custody’ certification, which allows the wood fibre used to manufacture paper to be tracked through the entire supply chain from forest to end user. The certification also ensures the wood is sourced from a forest independently certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
We are confident that we will receive certification during 2008, and from that moment we will be able to supply you with papers that have a fully documented pedigree of quality and sustainability.
Whilst paper is the mainstay of our business, we strive to make sure all our working practices have the smallest possible impact on the environment. We are scrupulous about recycling our own waste, and ensure that we use the minimum amount of energy for our operations.
Our environmental practices are continually developing for the better. Over the next two years, we plan to install a cold-water loop on our printing presses, increasing the efficiency of our cooling system by up to 30%. We’re going to be installing motion sensors over the next year, making sure that electrical equipment is switched off when it’s not being used. And we’re about to audit the ways in which our staff travel to work, allowing us to recommend more sustainable and less environmentally-damaging ways of making those same journeys (such as car sharing or cycling).
When you entrust your work with Palladian, you know that the best-quality printing won’t cost the earth. Ask us for a quote today.
