Philip's book is a hit as The Stones keep rolling off our presses

Palladian Press has helped Silver Shutter Books score a smash hit with its critically-acclaimed collection of 60s prints by photographer Philip Townsend.

The book, Philip Townsend - The Limited Editions, was printed by Palladian for a May 2009 launch. Since then, publicity for the book has been spreading like a bush fire, with positive reviews appearing all over the web and in national publications like The Word.

The Stones

Sales, already healthy, are about to rocket as the publisher takes over a shop near Carnaby Street to coincide with the latter's 1960s celebrations. The pop-up gallery will be exhibiting Townsend's work between 13th June and 5th July, and the author will be signing copies of the book on both 13th and 14th June. With its images of 1960s icons ranging from The Rolling Stones and The Beatles to Charlotte Rampling and Nico, it's hard to imagine a volume that could be more popular with Carnaby Street fans and aficionados.

In coming months, the book will be publicised at a series of exhibitions across the globe, including the National Portrait Gallery in London. In the last month, Townsend's images have pulled in impressive audiences at the San Francisco Art Exchange and the photographers lounge in Swanage, where the exhibition runs till 12th July.

The project has consolidated Palladian's reputation as a fine art printer, and opens the door to many more projects of this kind - including new titles from Silver Shutter Books.
