With over 300 people flocking to the issue two launch of the business quarterly, Colchester Connected, this is one publication that local firms can't afford not to appear in. With a roll call of featured companies that includes major internet marketers Coast Digital, Barclays Commercial Bank, recruiters GBN Kiloforce and hotel and conference specialists Inntel, the magazine is fast becoming the first port of call for firms that want to target the most influential commercial audience in the Colchester postcode area - and beyond.

Palladian Press is proud to have been the driving force behind the magazine, which we have pioneered as a way of helping local businesses work together - especially during the tough economic times we are now facing. We believe that Colchester Connected captures the spirit, the enterprise and the incredible good nature of our business community and we are certain that our collaborative approach to telling the stories of local companies has won people over to a new model of business publishing. We are also delighted that so many enterprises are swinging behind the magazine and booking features.
The launch, which took place over breakfast at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Friday 24th April, was sponsored by the BCT Consortium and compèred by Heart FM's Jonathan Hemmings. Speakers included Jim Addison, Chair of the BCT Consortium, along with representatives from Kent Blaxill, Mosaic Publicity and St Helena Hospice. One special highlight was provided by Neil Rippington, Head of the Centre for Hospitality and Food Studies at Colchester Institute, as he led a 'Generation Game' challenge to create a strawberry and cream gateau in under 5 minutes. The results were more sticky than spectacular, but went down a treat with the audience.
Colchester Connected is unusual in that it relies on very little traditional advertising, instead offering businesses the chance to buy a single, double or three-page feature in its pages. Our writers interview companies as a first step to creating a punchy lifestyle feature with a clear commercial focus, whilst staff from local firm Harland Payne conduct a photo-shoot to create images for the final spreads. Firms have been delighted with their features, and three two-page features were booked for issue 3 within 90 minutes of Friday's launch.
We would urge any firm wanting to build up recognition effectively and economically to take out a feature in the magazine. If you are interested in learning more, please call Paul Douglas or Steve Green at Palladian Press on 01206 799065 or visit www.colchesterconnected.co.uk for more details.
