It was a double celebration day for the Colchester Connected team on Friday 27th November. Not only was the fifth issue of the magazine launched at the Weston Homes Community Stadium – marking a successful first year of publication – but it scooped a coveted Business to Business award in the Colchester & District Business Awards 2009.
If there was ever any doubt that Colchester Connected – which is designed and published by Palladian Press – deserved the Business to Business laurels, you only had to look at the other awards categories: many gave recognition to companies that have featured in the magazine over the last year.
Notable successes among Colchester Connected clients included Total Car Parks Ltd, which won a New Company award, SmarterCard Ltd, which topped the Business Innovation of the Year category, and Fitsudirect Ltd, which succeeded in the Retail award. Palladian Press Sales and Marketing Director, Steve Green, also narrowly missed out on the Businessman of the Year gong.
The Business Awards, organised by Gazette publisher Newsquest (Essex) Ltd, were presented at a gala dinner that took place in Colchester’s Charter Hall. A delighted Linda Green, Publishing Director of Colchester Connected, responded to the Business to Business accolade by saying: “We’re thrilled by the award because it’s a testament to how Colchester Connected is valued by our business community, and how it has helped companies to identify new opportunities over the last year. We were happy enough to have completed a successful first year of publication, but this award will encourage us to reach further and aim higher over the next 12 months.”
Paul Douglas, of publisher Palladian Press, was equally proud. “It hasn’t been easy launching a magazine during tough economic times, but it soon became clear that Colchester businesses used the publication and its associated networking events to share ideas, identify opportunities and exhibit an incredible spirit of entrepreneurship. Colchester Connected has been a force for good locally, and we’re delighted that it has won such prestigious recognition within the first 12 months of its existence.”
